Our Horses
Amigo
Amigo is a quarter horse gelding. He is a left-brained extrovert, which means he is motivated by high energy and play and needs a strong leader. Lisa Bruner is his owner. She has had him since he was 4 years old. Amigo jumps, trail rides, plays soccer, loves obstacles, and gets bored easily. As an alpha horse he can be challenging, but his connectedness, intelligence, and strong play drive make it all worth it.
Clyde
Clyde is a teenage Percheron Morgan cross, and he joined us in August 2019. He is a left-brained introvert and likes working with a confident, self-assured partner who doesn’t mind slowing things down. Clyde is very forgiving and came from a loving family where he pulled carts in Kansas City. His owner is riding instructor and therapist Marley Dinwiddie.
Draco
Draco is a Suffolk Punch draft gelding owned by the Moran Family. He is a right-brained introvert that can be very sensitive. While his breed sounds fancy, he is a very simple guy, wanting safety and love from his riders. He is solid as a rock and is trustworthy and forgiving.
Elroy
Elroy is an Arabian gelding. He is a right-brained introvert and needs to feel safe with his riders. In exchange for helping him feel safe, Elroy is very affectionate and loving. His favorite activity is “grooming” the people he loves. Owned by Lisa Bruner, Elroy has jumped, shown, trail ridden, and taught beginners for many years. He has taken his job as a therapy horse very seriously and often has powerful insights into his rider’s feelings and needs.
Frosty
Frosty joined the HAHA program in the summer of 2018. He is a member of Lisa Bruner’s herd and her son Charles’s first pony. He is a right-brain extrovert. Frosty requires his partners to stay focused and on task. He enjoys back massages and scratches. When you get his itchy spot, he will sway back and forth with contentment. Frosty’s motto is “Where focus goes, energy flows.”
Augustus (Gus)
Gus is a clydesdale who adores his horse-mom, Mariah. HAHA welcomed him and his half-brother Murphy into the herd in 2016 when they were yearlings. They started their work in the program in 2020, primarily working with veteran and first responder clients. Gus is a playful left-brained extrovert, and he loves kisses. He works best with clients who need to be pushed out of their comfort zone and work on their assertive leadership.
Harley
Harley is a miniature donkey owned by Moran Family Stables. True to his breed, Harley has a tough exterior and a strong stubborn streak; however, underneath is a sweet and loving animal simply looking for safety and comfort. Harley doesn't see size as a weakness and thoroughly enjoys rough play with our other horses. Amigo is his best friend, and Harley behaves a lot like a little brother playing with older siblings.
Jameson
Jameson is a thoroughbred gelding. He is a left-brained introvert that requires a high level of confidence from his riders. Owned by Mariah Sidesinger, he bonds strongly with his riders but always throws tests their way to remind them of his place in the herd. Accomplished as a hunter/ jumper and show horse, he learned the slower parts of life such as trail riding and teaching beginners. Jameson has been a very valuable as a therapy horse for his responsiveness and his ability to call someone’s bluff. He is currently retired.
Murphy
Murphy is Chris Moran’s clydesdale, and Gus’s half-brother. (You can tell Murphy apart from Gus by his black sock on his left foreleg.) He and Gus came to HAHA in 2016 when they were yearlings, and they began their work with clients in 2020, primarily with veterans and first responders. Murphy is a left-brained introvert and he loves chin scratches. He works best with clients who need to slow down and take their time.
Ollie
Ollie is a teenage quarter horse. He is a right-brained introvert, which means he is a little bit shy and he seeks comfort. He needs a confident leader who will be patient and gentle with him. His owner is Board Member Annette Thornburgh, and he joined the program in the beginning of 2018. He is a sweet boy who is already working well with a variety of clients.
Rowdy
Rowdy is the newest miniature horse in our program. He was donated in July 2019 and welcomed into Mariah Sidesinger’s herd. He is a right-brained introvert. To become partners with Rowdy, he needs patience and someone willing to listen to what he needs. If you take the time to understand him, he will stick by your side. Rowdy likes to be told hello when passing by his paddock, and he will even say hello back with a nicker and squeal. Rowdy’s motto is “Do not listen with the intent to reply, but with the intent to understand.”
Spirit
Long-time boarder, Spirit, officially joined HAHA's therapy horses in 2018. She is a halflinger, which is a light draft horse breed that has a chestnut coat with a golden or white mane. Spirit is a left-brained introvert. This means she is calm and confident and requires confidence and assertiveness from the people who work with her. Spirit is a great horse for confidence building in beginner riders.
